એક્ટિવિટીથી બાળકોમાં આવી પર્યાવરણ અંગે જાગૃતિ

દુનિયાભરમાં
પર્યાવરણની જાળવણીને લઇને તેના અવેરનેસ માટે લોકો
પ્રયત્ન કરી રહ્યા છે. આવી જ એક પ્રવૃત્તિ
‘વર્લ્ડ
એન્વાયરન્મેન્ટ
ડે’
પર વિકસત,
નહેરુ ફાઉન્ડેશન ફોર ડેવલપમેન્ટ દ્વારા કરવામાં આવી હતી.
ખાસ રીતે સેલિબ્રેશન કરવા માટે નહેરુ ફાઉન્ડેશનના કેમ્પસમાં નર્સરી
એક્ઝિબિશન,
પોસ્ટર એક્ઝિબિશન,
રેઇન વોટર હાર્વેસ્ટિંગનું લાઇવ મોડલ,
વોટરશેડનું મોડલ મૂકવામાં આવ્યા હતા. ખાસ કરીને બાળકો માટે
‘ફોટો
ઇન
ફોરેસ્ટ’
ઇવેન્ટનું આયોજન કરવામાં આવ્યું હતું. આ ઉપરાંત તેમાં
પક્ષીઓ અને વૃક્ષોને જાણો તેવા વિવિધ કાર્યક્રમોનું આયોજન કરવામાં
આવ્યું હતું.
ખાસ કરીને કાર્યક્રમ દ્વારા વિદ્યાર્થીઓમાં પર્યાવરણની જાળવણી અંગેની
જાગૃતતા કેળવાઇ હતી અને બાળકોને જંગલ જેવા કુદરતી વાતાવરણમાં
આનંદવિભોર થવાનો મોકો મળ્યો હતો. આ ઉજવણીમાં શેઠ અમુલખ સ્કૂલ,
આઇએસએઆર ઓર્ગેનાઇઝેશન,
કલરવ ઓર્ગેનાઇઝેશન વગેરે જેવી સંસ્થાઓએ ભાગ
લીધો હતો.

દહેગામ ખાતે રાષ્ટ્રીય પર્યાવરણ જાગૃતિ શિબિર યોજાઇ
ગાંધીનગર જિલ્લાના દહેગામ શહેરમાં આવેલા સાર્વજનિક પુસ્તકાલય ખાતે
સોમવારે બપોરે દહેગામ તાલુકા બક્ષીપંચ સાર્વજનિક ટ્રસ્ટ દ્વારા ભારત
સરકારના વન અને પર્યાવરણ મંત્રાલય નવી દિલ્લી અને વિકસત અમદાવાદના
સહયોગથી પર્યાવરણ શિબિરનું આયોજન કરવામાં આવ્યું હતું.
પર્યાવરણ શિબિરમાં દહેગામ મામલતદાર એસ.એસ.કલાસવા, ગાંધીનગર જિલ્લા
ભાજપમંત્રી ઘનશ્યામભાઇ બ્રહ્નભટ્ટ, ભારતીય કિસાનસંઘ ગાંધીનગર જિલ્લા
પ્રમુખ ગાભુભાઇ ચૌધરી, જમીન વિકાસ બેંકના ચેરમેન અંબાલાલ પટેલ, વિશ્વ
હિન્દુ પરિષદના કા.અધ્યક્ષ કૈલાસભાઇ શાહ, ગાંધીનગર જિલ્લા ગૌરક્ષા સમિતિ
સંયોજક મહાદેવભાઇ રબારી, એડવોકેટ યોગેશભાઇ જણસારી કશિાન સંધના અગ્રણી
હરિભાઇ પટેલ સહિતના મહાનુભાવો આમંત્રિત હોવાથી ઉપસ્થિત રહેલ મહેમાનોનું
બક્ષીપંચ સાર્વજનિક ટ્રસ્ટના પ્રમુખ જયદેવભાઇ નાનાલાલ બારોટે સ્વાગત કરી
બહુમાન કર્યું હતું.
શિબિરમાં પર્યાવરણ જાગૃતિ અંગે અને ગ્લોબલ વોર્મિંગની અસરો દુર કરવા કેવાં
પગલાં લેવા જોઇએ અને દરેક નાગરિકની શું ફરજ બને છે તે વિશે તજજ્ઞો દ્વારા
માર્ગદર્શન પુરૂ પાડવામાં આવ્યું હતું.

પર્યાવરણ અને વનમંત્રાલય ભારત સરકાર તથા વિકસત સંસ્થા સંચાલિત સહયોગ
સમાજ સેવા ટ્રસ્ટ સોસીયા આયોજિત તથા લોકશિક્ષણ કેન્દ્ર દરિયાઈ ઉત્પાન
સંસ્થાનો સયોગ દ્વારા જૈવ વિવિધતા સંરક્ષણ સેમીનાર એક દિવસ કાર્ય શિબિર
યોજવામાં આવી હતી.
આ શિબિરમાં
ઉત્પાન સંસ્થાના તજજ્ઞા હિરાભાઈ દિહોરાએ ગ્લોબલ ર્વિમગ કારણી ઉપાયો વિરો
વિસ્તુત માહિતી આપી હતી. તેમજ એકસલ ક્રોપ કેરના તજજ્ઞા મુકુદભાઈ પંડયાએ
પર્યાવરણમાં પક્ષીનું શું કામ હોઈ શકે તેની માહિતી આપી હતી. શાળાના
શિક્ષક નરેશભાઈ એ પર્યાવરણની પ્રાથમિક માહિતી આપી સમજાવ્યું હતું.
તેમજ
તળાજાના તજજ્ઞા દિયોરા ધરમશીભાઈ અને વૃક્ષ અને પર્યાવરણ અને જાળવણી વિશે
વિસ્તૃત માહિતી આપવામાં આવી હતી. આમ આ કાર્યક્રમમાં શાળાના શિક્ષકગણ
ગામના સરપંચ ગ્રામજનો વિદ્યાર્થીઓ તથા સરસ્વતી વિનય મંદિરના પ્રમુખ
ચિથરભાઈ વગેરેની ઉપસ્થિતિમાં સેમિનાર યોજાયેલ. સેમીનારને સફળ બનાવવા
શાળાનાં શિક્ષક ભરતભાઈ મકવાણા તથા ગોરધનભાઈ તથા બાયોગેસ પ્લાન્ટના
સુપરવાઈઝર અરવિંદભાઈ ડાભીએ જહેમત ઉઠાવી હતી. સેમીનારના અંતે સહયોગ સમાજ
સેવા ટ્રસ્ટ મંત્રી ચૌહાણ શામજીભાઈ આભાર વિધિ કરી હતી.

જાગૃતિ અભિયાન સંસ્થા દ્વારા તાજેતરમાં જૈવિક વિવિધતાનું સંરક્ષણ વિષય
પર મહિલા ભવન ખાતે શિબિરનું આયોજન કરવામાં આવ્યું હતું.
મહિલા શિબિરમાં ઉપસ્થિત રહેલા એડવોકેટ રાજુભાઇ અને યોગેશભાઇ જણસારીએ
સંરક્ષણ અંગેની માહિતી આપી હતી.
એફ.સી.સીના ગીતાબેન પટેલ,બહેરા મૂંગા શાળાના દશરથભાઇ અને બામા કેન્દ્રના
ચીમનભાઇએ વિષયને અનુરૂપ સંબોધન કર્યું હતું. આ અંતર્ગત વિકસતા અમદાવાદના
સહયોગથી ચિત્ર હરીફાઇ સહિતના અન્ય કાર્યક્રમોનું પણ આયોજન કરવામાં આવ્યું
હતું.

Biodiversity workshop at VIKSAT

AHMEDABAD: Representatives of (NGOs) and institutes from across the
state learnt various aspects of biodiversity conservation in a
workshop conducted by Vikram Sarabhai Centre for Development
Interaction ( Viksat) on Friday.
The two-day workshop, which began on Friday, was organized under the
sponsorship of ministry of environment and forests.

Ecology can be preserved with help of smart urbanisation
In the past few decades, the landscape of the city has changed
drastically and so has its bio-diversity. Once villages, areas like
Bopal, Bodakdev, Sanand, Gota, Khodiyar, Thaltej and Shilaj have
metamorphosed into city.
The eco-system of the city in terms of wildlife, agriculture and
revenue land have been affected the most. For instance, Vastrapur
gaam used to be the abode of Rabari community and farmers, whose main
occupation was animal husbandry and farming. However, now the area is
considered among one of the posh locales in the city, teeming up
increasing number of malls and other buildings.
Educational institutes should take initiatives the large number of
ponds in the city which formed a natural water reservoir were
replaced by concrete jungles. This adversely affected the flora and
fauna of this city.
While conservation of bio-diversity has to be taken up at the
policy-making level, educational institutions can contribute their
mite by taking up projects on biodiversity conservation, experts
feel. Botanical corner could be created in every garden which should
have a wide variety of plants.
The state, experts point out, boasts of a rich bio-diversity —
eco-regions like green forest, wetland, marine land, salty grass
land, etc. But the city needs to conserve bio-resources by adopting
smart urbanisation, they say.
Grow more of common plants
and trees
Increasing number of vehicles has resulted in higher emission of
green house gases and a rise in noise pollution. Narrotam Sahoo,
senior scientist at Gujarat Science City, says, “There are ecoponds
in which algae, zoo plankton, etc, absorb sun rays besides being food
for the aquatic creatures like fishes, snails. These smaller
creatures become food of bigger fishes and mammals and thus the
eco-system survives. Thus, ponds are a major source of nourishment
for aquatic plants and animals, domestic animals and humans. But,
urbanisation has destroyed these ponds. It’s important that the
town-planning should de done, keeping in mind the eco-system and its
conservation.”
Kartikeya Sarabhai, Director of Centre for Environment Education,
says, “Birds like yellow and green wagtail, Brahminy duck, spoonbills
have become a rare sight. Rapid development has brought about a
tremendous change in the landscape of the city. The habitat has
changed dramatically and that affects the bio-diversity.”
Dilip Surkar, Director of VASCSC and VIKSAT, points out to the
drastic fall in the number of common plots and in housing societies.
There is an emphasis on exotic and commercial plants. The grass in
common plots are the playgrounds for grasshoppers and many other
insects who in turn thrive on each other.
Insects are an important part of eco-system
“The mosquitoes and larvae are eaten by insects which are beneficial
for human beings as diseases like malaria stay away from us,” Surkar
says. Just planting trees, making the entire place look green would
not help in conserving the bio-diversity. It is vital that different
varieties of plants are grown, the experts say. This would attract
various insects and birds, which are very essential for our
eco-system.

On
a Nature Trail

Nature Trail was organised to celebrate Earth Day by VIKSAT campus,
CEE, on Thursday. As many as 50 environment enthusiasts took a walk
and gained information on rain water harvesting, different kinds of
trees and soil, various species of birds from instructors. With so
much knowledge, Amdavadis surely know how to keep the city green!

Jairam Ramesh calls for speedier reforestation
The environment minister was in Ahmedabad on Tuesday to inaugurate a
workshop at VIKSAT

Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh said on Tuesday that over 40 per
cent of India’s forest cover had degraded and there was an urgent
need for speeding up the process of reforestation across the country.
“We will have to reforest degraded areas at a rapid pace. In the past
10 years, we have added 3 million hectares of forest cover. We now
intend to add 6 million hectares in the next 10 years,” Ramesh, who
was in Ahmedabad to inaugurate a workshop at Vikram Sarabhai Centre
for Development Interaction (VIKSAT), said.
The workshop is part of the National Environment Awareness Campaign (NEAC)
2010, whose theme is climate change. Principal Secretary (forests) S
K Nanda and the chairman of Gujarat Pollution Control Board, C L
Meena, were also part of the event.
Ramesh said that India, which has 70 million hectares of forests, was
one of the few countries to redouble reforestation efforts. On
melting of Himalayan glaciers, he said: “Glaciers are receding at an
alarming speed. However, it is unlikely that they would seize to
exist by 2035.”
