Localising MDGs for a Sustainable Future
A Development Perspective for Dungarpur

A Sensitization Programme for District Officials

The project on localizing MDGs in Dungarpur is to be implemented by taking along District Administration, PRIs and community in the process. To ensure better cooperation from them it is necessary to sensitise various functionaries about the MDGs and the current project.

A Sensitization Programme for District Officials was organized on January 22, 2007 at EDP Hall of Zilla Parishad in Dungarpur. Around 25 senior officers from different line departments such as education, health, forestry, ICDS, literacy, agriculture, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Public Distribution System, Public Health Engineering etc. remained present. For ice breaking – pairing game - an informal method was adopted for the introduction of the participants. Then the participants were briefed about the MDGs and the current project. A thinking process on causes of the issues related to the MDGs in the context of Dungarpur was initiated among the participants. They were asked to give their views through different coloured paper slips. MDGwise slips were pasted on the chart papers dividing the responses under two or three major categories. One of the participants was then asked to summarise the responses. Some of the responses also stimulated good discussion among the participants. The proceedings were made interesting by narrating a few short stories/ incidents leading them to reflect upon various issues. Certain management games were also used as tools to convey the messages of cooperation and thinking beyond the box. They were also invited to discuss about the present government schemes which could help achieving the MDGs. The programme was also attended by the District Collector and the Chief Executive Officer participated in the programme throughout the day.

On January 23, 2007 a meeting of Think Tank was arranged to discuss the strategy for the implementation of the programme. Think Tank comprising of members from district administration, PRIs, NGOs and Corporate Sector were invited to discuss and brainstorm various aspects of the project. The Think Tank would also monitor the progress of the project and provide suggestions for better implementation. The Zilla Pramukh of Dungarpur  Zilla Parishad attended this meeting.
